Great looking hand painted patch for the 551st Bomb Squadron from the 385th Bombardment Group USAAF who were based at Great Ashfield airfield during WW2 flying the mighty B-17 Flying Fortress. The group lead the famous attack on the Marienburg factory in Oct 43 and gained two Unit citations. They lost 129 aircraft missing in action
